Easily work as well as Fender's modern string trees.
These are a nice update to the old stamped steel string trees. They are smoothly finished and provide less resistance to string movement than the old stamped style.
I have two issues with the design:
1. These only come in a single height, so if you wish to have more or less downward pull of the strings passing under the tree, there is no easy way to accomplish this. Longer and short mounting tubes for the traditional trees works good for that, but these are not really "adjustable."
2. Be aware that an indexing hole near the screw hole is required to mount them properly. This is a consideration on vintage instruments, since going back to "original" would leave a visible hole.Considering #1 above, the indexing pin prevents simply grinding/filing down the bottom of the tree to lower the tree to get more downward force or adding a shim to lessen downward force. If you don't want to drill and index hole, consider the barrel-style (not the "roller-style") guides that WD has for sale.

Appreciated gift
I bought these for a friend who had a couple of old Strats with busted ones. He loved them, said they seemed better than the originals. WD had these at a good price so I added them to my order of a couple other things. Quick shipping too, even during this pandemic where everything seems to be moving in slow motion, it all arrived sooner than expected. Thanks WD.
