WD Finger Tailpiece with Short Fingers
5.0
Review By Short Finger Tailpiece
Excellent quality and performance
Features and Benefits - Finger Tail Short version. 3-5.5
The short 3-5.5 ” finger tail shares all the enhanced performance features of the original 4-6.5 version first seen in the late 50’s on Kenny Burrell’s Custom L-5 Florentine cutaway and commissioned by Johnny Smith as the upgraded tailpiece for his JS model in the mid Seventies.
The finger tail next appeared on the Super V in 1978 and was not only esthetically pleasing but provided enhanced performance as to string down pressure across the bridge activating the top increased tension playability and sustain. Thus, it became the new “state of the art” in electric acoustic jazz guitars.
The individual finger lengths are based on the principle that the lowest string E6 is the longest, increasing the throw or distance to the tail adding tension, sustain, tonal definition and the ability of a lower string action.
The individual adjustable fingers allow for down pressure compensation on each string that can be adjusted to each guitar’s sweet spot along with the players particular preference or feel.
The short finger tail, primarily used on smaller LP solid body guitars, also works extremely well on the thin hollow body 15”- 16” and advanced 17” models, by extending the string throw adding down pressure, increasing sustain, enhancing the overall tonal definition and playability.
The finger tailpiece, available in both long and short versions, maximize flexibility and performance.
