Kent Armstrong Pickups: wire, sounds, magnets, and mojo
Last year (2022) one of our guitar-building customers dropped us a line. He had a "remark" on WD's Kent Armstrong Pickups. He roared: "Why the heck can a lower priced pickup sound so great!? Or have I been paying too much for other brands?"
We thought this is the best commercial a manufacturer can get. And we agree with the guitar builder. Kent Armstrong's Icon Series 54 sound great, containing warm jangly tones with tight midrange and good bass response, while retaining "the classic Strat-style sparkle". Fair's fair, they do not sound like the famous and top-notch expensive brands, but Armstrongs come close. Very suitable pickups for early rock and roll.
WD: lots of popular brands of pickups are not always easy to come by for smaller companies, guitar makers or repairers. Would it be an idea to add a couple of famous brands to your already impressive line of brands? Or just a few handwound treasures: handwound pickups for hand-made guitars.
